Our new website is already turning heads!

Our hosting company has made some major changes and as part of that, we did too. As it turned out, the changes were above and beyond what the hosting co. thought was possible with the current CMS! Tamara and I customized the site to provide a unique look, without sacrificing accessibility. We are extremely proud to have been featured by Zenfolio for our creativity. Check out the article about us and 3 other members on their blog.

J Photography will be there when other's are not.

Kiddie Kandid's has closed their doors. The popular retail chain located inside Babies R' Us stores and select malls has filed for bankruptcy and shut down literally overnight. The company's website has deactivated everything but the home page, leaving no contact information or other way to access anything about the money you spent with them or how to get a refund on things like "Milestones packages".  Sure, they filled a niche market that many independent photographers could not, but the trade off was quality and sometimes price. J Photography wants you to know, that you CAN afford a local, independent photographer and the quality they can provide.
To prove this, we will honor any Kiddie Kandid pre-paid package's remaining value. There is a catch, you have to have your paperwork/contract. Here is what we ask of you: We don't rope you in with packages full of useless locket sized prints and no enhancements, so we cannot match "package prices" or per sheet offers. Please understand, their $20 a sheet business model led them to bankruptcy, we dont want to join them ;) What we will give you in return is no sitting fee or a price matched sitting fee (whichever your particular contract states). You will also get the free 5x7 or 8x10 if it is in your contract at each sitting as well as the free 16x20 on your final sitting. J Photography will also offer you quality prints and options that Kiddie Kandid's couldn't dream of, at a competitive price. We want to show you that supporting an independent studio really is the best option. We want you as our customer and our family.

Our new website!

After MUCH procrastination, changing my mind about designs/themes and a dozen other self made hurdles, the new J Photography website is up and running! Click one of the dozen or so links you can find on this blog or just click this link to J Photography's new website .Your opinions are always valued (unless they are bad), and if you see something I missed like a spelling error or picture of me and my fly is open, please let me know so I can quit embarrassing myself as usual. There might even be a prize in it for a lucky follower!

2010 Model search? Could it be your family?

It's been a while since I posted to the blog, because we have been busy! Getting the new website finalized and taking care of some last minute 2009 projects has been a real time consumer. But don't worry, J Photography has something for you now.... We have partnered with Sandy Puc for the 2010 Charity model search. Book a session between now and March 1st so we can enter your family into the contest. There are lots of prizes, including a new car to be won! You and all of your family can vote on the photo as many times as you like, and all proceeds from the event go to NILMDTS, a non profit organization that J Photography donates services to regularly. These sessions are at a discounted rate and have a limited number of spots available. Get your today by calling us at 214-763-2447 or sending us a message on Facebook!

Lots of Babies...

Something is in the air this year.. Lots of moms are having twins. Just this last week, even my sister announced that she was confirmed to have two on the way! We ( J Photography) love to photograph newborns and children, but twins are always double the fun! I was very excited to have the opportunity to shoot Brooklyn and Baylee, then give their family something unique. My wife and I look forward to many more sessions with multiples and would love to add your kids (even if it's just one!) to our growing family of customers who come for photos and leave as our friends.
If your in the market for maternity, newborn, infant / children's portraits in the Mesquite, Forney, Rockwall, Garland and other DFW areas, give us a call. There are several packages to suit any budget, ranging from a single session to complete coverage of your child's first year. As with all our sessions, prints, canvas wraps, albums and other products are always available and included at many levels. We'll see you soon!

Sometimes I could just shoot that kid....

...but I use a camera to do it though! As you can see, he is not always cooperative, but still fun to hang out with. I had some errands to run today and he went with me, which is one of the nice by-products of home schooling your kids. I grabbed my camera with the intent of doing some location scouting in between gorging ourselves on cheeseburgers and a contest of flatulence skills and off we went.

Once downtown, I remembered why I avoid Deep Ellum for portrait sessions on Saturdays. It was a gorgeous day and there was practically no one else around. On a Saturday with this weather, there wouldn't be 1 square foot of concrete not occupied by someone taking photos or trying to bum money off of you. Today, Seth and I had free run of some cool spots. There was a couple of other photographers out, one shooting some senior portraits, another with a bride in her gown, but no crowds - NICE! You won't get to see all the cool spots right now (unless you pay for a photo session, ahheemm!), but here are a couple that can readily be seen with a quick drive up any of the main streets through the area.

Jesse and Diana's Wedding.

What a wonderful couple Tamara and I shared the evening with! A small wedding at a small country church, and the reception was held in a historic bank building on the square. I wont bore you with my rambling on, just look at a few of the photos from that evening and enjoy!
